Alan Prescott is an automotive and autonomous industry legal expert, engineer, and 20-year veteran from top OEM and technology companies. Alan is the Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of Luminar Technologies, a technology company launching lidar hardware and software to help radically improve vehicle safety and convenience. Prior to this, Alan was the Acting General Counsel of Tesla, where he helped the company scale from two small volume vehicles to a world powerhouse in electric vehicles, and at Uber Technologies, where he led Uber’s Advanced Technology Group’s legal team. Alan’s career began at Ford Motor Company as a safety engineer and then over ten years as an attorney leading various legal operations within the automaker, concentrating on product development, safety, and consumer protection. Alan has an engineering degree from Duke University and law degree from Georgetown University. His passion is helping young startup companies to scale products and services that improve lives.
